A temporary two-week closure will be in place at the O’Hara Road entrance from Donaldson Highway (at the 0.6 mile point) beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 21. The CVG Airplane Viewing Area on Donaldson Highway will also be closed during this time.

The two-week closure is necessary to allow crews to perform cement stabilization work as part of the ongoing Donaldson Highway widening project. This work will improve pavement durability and ensure a more stable foundation for the final road design. Both the O’Hara Road entrance and the Airplane Viewing Area are expected to reopen on Monday, May 5.

During the closure, motorists can access O’Hara Road via Turfway Road (KY 717). Message boards are in place to notify the public of the closure. This work is weather permitting. We will provide updates if schedule changes occur due to inclement weather or other unforeseen delays.

Motorists can continue to expect a single lane open in each direction throughout the project area.

April 2025

A widening project aimed at reducing congestion and improving safety on I-71 in Carroll and Gallatin counties is in progress. The project will widen I-71 from its configuration of two lanes in each direction, to three lanes.

A shoulder has been paved to temporarily accommodate traffic during this phase of the construction project. Please, drive carefully through the work zone.

The speed limit in the work zone is now reduced to 55 MPH. Law enforcement will be on-site to ensure compliance.

A traffic shift has been implemented on the eastbound side of the I-275 Carroll Cropper Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River in Boone County.

A temporary speed limit reduction of 55 MPH is currently in place. A queue warning system has also been installed on both sides of the river to warn motorists of any stopped or slowed traffic on/near the bridge.

Eastbound Traffic Shift (drivers heading from Indiana to Kentucky):

As of Monday, March 3, a single right lane closure in in place on I-275 eastbound. This configuration is expected to remain in place for the next 30 to 60 days.

Westbound Traffic (drivers heading from Kentucky to Indiana):

A single right lane closure is in place on I-275 westbound. This lane closure begins at the top of the hill, and spans the length of the Carroll Cropper Memorial Bridge.

Looking Ahead:

Once floor beam repairs are made, current weight restrictions for emergency vehicles will be lifted.

KYTC will provide further updates on schedules and traffic impacts as these emergency repairs, and scheduled repairs take shape.

KY 536 from KY 1303 to Williamswoods Drive

Contractors are performing bridge widening work.
- Crews will be pouring the bridge deck east of Falcon Ridge Drive on the week of Monday, April 21. Crews will be on-site, but no lane closures are expected. One lane will remain open in each direction.
Additionally, earthwork and sanitary work is taking place throughout the project limits. This work may involve several traffic impacts for equipment moving in and out of the work zone.

A traffic switch occurred on Tues., Nov. 26 (2024). Crews switched traffic between Hogrefe Road and Banklick Road. Traffic was shifted to the south half of the bridge. There is currently one lane of traffic in each direction.

Bristow Road (KY 1303) Widening

Contractors are working on sanitary and earthwork. This work may involve various traffic impacts with equipment moving in/out of the work zone. Please be aware while traveling through the project area and watch for crews and equipment.
